About Our Office

Many chiropractors focus on conditions originating from the spine.  Many have become spine specialists dealing mostly with patients with neck and low back pain.  What many chiropractors fail to address are conditions and dysfunction of the rest of the neuromusculoskeletal system apart from the spine.  The objective at Myers Chiropractic & Functional Health is to treat the entire neuromuskuloskeletal system including the spine but also including joints, muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and nerves from the rest of the body. In fact, a large majority of our cases involve injuries of the extremities and are not limited to just the spine.

The unique aspect of Myers Chropractic & Functional Health is our scientific philosophy and our comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of the entire neuromusculoskeletal system.

There are approximately 639 skeletal muscles in the human body.  Nearly all movement in our bodies are influenced by muscles yet a medical specialty designated to muscle conditions and dysfunction does not exist.  This is a void that Dr. Myers is attempting to fill.  Active Release Technique® (A.R.T.®), Graston® Techniques, FAKTR Mehtod, Fascial Abrasion Techniques (Fat Tool) and Dry Needling is what will fill this void. Although we have many athletes that seek out our office because of the special focus we place on soft tissue injuries involving the entrie body, it is just as effective with non-sports related injuries like overuse repetitive injuries that occur at the workplace as well for prolonged sitting and stooping.

The neuromusculoskeletal system consists of three distinct yet intertwined systems.  The philosophy at Myers Chiropractic & Functional Health is that all three parts are equally important, thus all three must be addressed in treatment.  We believe that the combination of the chiropractic adjustment, myofascial release work, and rehabilitation is the most comprehensive system of treating conditions of the neuromusculoskeletal system.

REHABILITATION

During the initial phase of treatment Dr. Myers will take the time to teach his patients particular exercises, stretches or mobility movements to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of the treatments provided at our office.

After the patient's pain has been alleviated, it is important to rehabilitate the body or injured area. This is done to restore optimal functionng to the body and to prevent the issue from returning. A specific rehabilitation program, which will usually consist of stretches and strengthening exercises, will be tailored to each individual. Following the rehabilitation of an injury, not only will the physical aspects be improved, but also the mental, psychological, and sociological aspects of your life as well.

PHYSIOTHERAPY MODALITIES

Myers Chiropractic offers several modalities to complement and enhance the treatment procedures listed above. These include: frequency specific microcurrent (FSM), ultrasound, interferential electrical muscle stimulation, intersegmental traction, mechanical traction, cervical traction, moist heat therapy, and cryotherapy.

NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS

Supplements are not only important in the healing process, but also in the prevention of disease. In principle, the goal of any holistic treatment approach is to support and strengthen your body so that it can manage on its own. In practice, however, there are several reasons why many people can benefit from a good quality, natural supplement.  You may believe that if you eat a balanced diet that you should be getting all of the vitamins and minerals that your body needs. This is often incorrect. You usually can't get everything from your food.  Our Western diet consists of food that is overly processed, hormone-pumped, high in sugar, low in fiber, and lacking proper nutrition due to a depletion in nutrients in our agricultural soil.

You may not guess how much impact a trace mineral deficiency can have until you have started a supplement regimen, and find that you have more energy and awareness, as well as fewer aches and pains. Many people also benefit from supplements due to the stress of daily living.  At the speed our lives move today, stress is a major factor in illness and fatigue. In fact, it has been reported that we have 500 times more stressors affecting us than our grandparents did. We can not manage this by diet alone, there needs to be some additional support.

Please note that there are thousands of supplements available, but not all of them are natural, of good quality, or easily absorbed by the human body. Some of the synthesized vitamins pass right through you with no benefit; others can even be toxic (even the "natural" ones: natural does not always mean "safe"). We carry only products that use high quality and pure ingredients manufactured with exceptionally strict standards.
